The first city of Brescia’s first metro system was inaugurated in 2013: this 13 km-long light railway track connects the city’s northern districts to the south-eastern ones, by passing through the historic city centre. Almost 10 km of the track is travelled underground, whilst the remaining 3 kilometres are either at ground level or on an elevated viaduct. In 2010, Baldassar supplied grating walkways (15 x 76 mm mesh with  a 25 x 2 banded and galvanised plate), complete with a substructure which serve as escape routes. Furthermore, Baldassar’s Clear grating fencing model (S235JR steel, M. 124 x 44 mm, banded and hot-dip galvanised according to the UNI EN ISO 1461 Standard), was used to build the infrastructure’s safety perimeter. The Brescia metro system is still the leading alternative public transport service of the entire city’s transport and urban planning system. The materials from which it is built were carefully selected according to the technical/performance criteria and objectives, whilst also opting for high-performance materials in terms of their durability, resistance and environmentally-friendliness.
