Venice Marco Polo Airport is a key infrastructure for Italy and most especially, North-Eastern Italy, as it receives around 9 million visitors a year, thanks to its 9 long-haul destinations, in addition to its numerous direct connections to and from North America and the Middle East. In 2015, Grigliati Baldassar was involved in the Tessera-located airport’s renovation works carried out by Save Engineering – the reference engineering and design agency of Aeroporto Marco Polo SpA – by providing their own Baldassar Quadra grating fence model (M. 44 x 44 mm, B.B. 25 x 2 mm, hot-dip galvanised according to UNI EN ISO 1461 standard) to fence off the external perimeter’s safety area. Airports are one of the most susceptible places in terms of security. The high standard of the material supplied, in addition to an attractive quality-price ratio resulted in Baldassar being chosen as the supplier for the Marco Polo airport. The company provided a solid and robust security infrastructure to protect the airport’s space from any unauthorised access to the more remote and not-so-easy-to-control areas of the Venetian airport and thus, meet the increasingly high airport security standards which have been extensively intensified and refined since 2000. The Baldassar Quadra fence was also equipped with 140 mm IPE uprights with a Y-shaped cranked top to support the concertina wire.
